“Healing begins when we are witnessed. Listening with love validates another. Story is the gateway to creation of all kinds.‘’
Do you sometimes think you have something to say that others might identify with, be inspired by? Or something so painful or outrageous you’d like to lighten it up with humor? Are there pivotal moments in your life that by making public, you might make others feel less alone? My minister says “drama is optional,” but I like my life better with it. A monthly reading promises me a chance to produce, perform and then refine those ‘stories.’ *Women have wisdom to share, (sorry guys) and I want to do it with you!
HOW: 7-10 minute “tellings” to applause, no critiques, in the spirit and style of the Moth Radio Hour on NPR and themoth.org. Followed by structured dialogue and optional video review where suggestions for support can be mulled over. After several meetings a public performance may be scheduled. RSVP necessary, even if you can’t make the first session … group size is limited.
WHO: Pat Hanson is a seasoned health educator, public speaker, workshop facilitator and writer putting the final touches on three memoirs that chronologue her colorful life. She's emceed Writers Roundtables and Open Mics on the Monterey Peninsula for 20+ years.
