The workshop is led and facilitated by Dr. Wallace "J" Nichols, author of the bestselling book Blue Mind, water visionary, boundary busting scientist, and leader of Blue Mind Life. Dr. Nichols brings in many experts, researchers, and practitioners and guide participants on a wide range of field trips to help provide a stimulating and thought-provoking experience as we explore the human connection to both wild and domesticated waters.
Blue Mind is Freakonomics meets "Your Brain on Water", and refers to the cumulative cognitive, emotional, psychological, social, and spiritual benefits of healthy waterways and oceans. This essential body of work enhances conversations about conservation and restoration by exploring the relationship between the human mind and water. Blue Mind principles continue to have direct implications in the nine major Wet Hearts sectors we work with:
Water + food infrastructure
Environment + conservation
Technology + innovation
Health + wellness
Education + parenting
Arts, architecture + design
Real estate + planning
Travel + leisure
Sports + recreation
We'll examine each of these sectors through the Seven Ages of Water: Birth through Death. All water professionals and advanced/graduate students will find personal and professional value in this workshop.
